Steps to Follow if Your Ductless Mini Split Heater Isn’t Working

Your ductless mini split heater is a great way to be comfortable no matter how cool it gets. There are a ton of other benefits to this option, including having both your heating and cooling in one system and not needing air ducts, but if you have a multi-zone unit you may be faced with a problem. Check the batteries

It sounds simple, but you might be surprised by how often people forget that their remote control runs on batteries. You can operate the units by using the buttons on the front of them, it’s certainly easier to use your remote – especially if your units are installed high up on the wall. If you can get to the buttons on the unit, try them first. If they work, then it’s likely just the batteries in your remote. If you can’t get to the buttons then simply switch out the batteries in your remote to see if that works.

Take a close look at the temperature setting

You may have your ductless system set to the wrong temperature setting or you may have accidentally switched it into the wrong mode. Your remote likely has the temperature and settings controls right on, so just make adjustments as needed to see if this kicks your air handler into high gear again.

Check your circuit breaker

If the display on your mini split ductless heater is completely blank then it likely doesn’t have power. One explanation is that you’ve tripped a breaker. Go down to your circuit breaker panel to see if this is the case. If it is, simply reset it and try to turn on your unit again. If it trips once again then you likely have a wiring issue. At that point, you’ll need to speak to a local electrician to have your wiring looked at.
