Simple Ways to Check if Your Home is Running Efficiently

Ensuring that you have a heating and cooling system that’s running efficiently is essential if you want maximum comfort at home, you want to improve your health, and you want to help the environment. Of course, it can also save you a lot of money too!
Do you know how much of your energy goes to heating and cooling?
If you’re worried about how to make your home more energy efficient then the first thing you should look at is your HVAC system. Why? Because about half of the energy you use in your home will go towards heating and cooling it. As a result, ensuring that you not only have the best HVAC system but that it’s running efficiently are both important steps.
There are a number of things to think about
As you look to ensure that your HVAC system is working at top capacity, there are a few questions you’ll have to answer. First, how quickly does your unit get your home to an optimal temperature when it kicks on? The longer it takes, the less efficient it is. Why? Because to drastically change the temperature, it must work hard. The longer it takes to do that, the longer it’s working hard – and every time it’s working hard it’s using a lot of energy.
Next, think about once that target temperature is reached, is it maintained? Does it fluctuate significantly up or down? If you have an AC or heating unit that always leaves you too cold or too hot, then it’s not working as effectively as it could.
Determining what the issue is
If you’ve realized that your AC and heating unit is not working at top capacity then your next step is to figure out what the issue is and what you can do about it. It may be an issue with airflow, it may be an HVAC system that’s simply not the right fit for your home, it may be a design flaw, or it may be a relatively easy fix like a clogged filter.
An upgrade may be in order
Of course, one of the simplest ways to ensure that you’re moving forward with an energy efficient unit is to upgrade to a ductless mini split air conditioner. AC-World is here to help you understand the advantages of this type of HVAC system and to help you choose the right option for your home or business.
