Summer is officially here and for many people in the United States, temperatures are skyrocketing. We recently ran across an article in the Leigh Valley News that offers some unique takes on how to stay cool as the heat rises. The article is titled, Summerheat got you sweating? Joy Howe writes, “Keeping your cool during the dog days of summer can be tough. So what's the best way to beat the heat? WFMZ spoke with people at Bucky Boyle Park's splash park and Mack Pool to find out how they're diving into summer. "It's a very hot day! 90 something degrees," one young man yells, as he whizzes by, dodging the water falling on him from above at the splash park. He, and others, are definitely making a splash around town.

"It was really packed today," the lifeguard on duty tells us. "I was really sweating and I begged my Mom to come!" another youngster says. But on a day like this, Moms didn't need much convincing. Jennie Samuels, brought her kids, her grand kids and her cousin's children as well. "When it's this hot," she says, "I usually jump in with the kids too. It's a kids' place and parents' too," she laughs. What's the best way to beat the heat when temps soar into the 90s?

People said, there's only one thing to do: get wet and sit back, and just make the best of it. "I brought my cooler out. I bring snacks for the kids, juices, water," Jennie says. Yes, it's hot but here, things are looking up, as people just enjoy the view, and sink in to the best moments of summer. "Just stay hydrated, stay under the shade, and if you're close to a pool, jump in," Mom Michelle Rodriguez says. What about ice cream? "Oh that's true, we need to do ice cream, yeah!" Rodriguez said.”
